March 27-March 31

Religion –  We continue to re-visit our Lenten Theme-Moving Toward Jesus.  Each student filled out a Lenten Plan that will be reflected on weekly during Lent.  There will be a Lent Prayer Service on March 27 at 8:45.  Please feel free to attend.  We are continuing to work through our unit on the 10 Commandments.  This paired beautifully with the theme of Mrs. Anderson’s Class’ mass this past Wednesday.  As a reminder, Mrs. Schaffer’s class will be leading mass next week on the 29th.

Reading/Language Arts –  We continue to complete mini lessons/activities for the comprehension strategies.  Mrs. Schaffer’s Class and Mrs. Anderson’s Class have started a round of Lit Circles.  Mrs. Alsin’s Class has started the whole class book Bridge to Terabithia.

Math –  We are going to finish the unit focusing on Exponents, Expanded Form, and Order of Operations early next week.  Our next unit of study will be furthering our understanding of fractions and ratios.  We will continue to practice writing the homework assignment and concepts to study in the planner at the end of each class just like they will be expected next year.

Science -We tested over the Circulatory System today and will be learning about the Respiratory System and the function of our lungs next week.  Our Test over the Lungs will be next Friday April 7th.

Language Arts – We’ve finished up our Figurative Language Unit with a quiz today.  We’ve also started and will continue working through a unit on Poetry over the next couple of weeks.  Students will learn Poetry Terms, different types of Poetry, how to study Poetry, and will try their skills at writing Poetry.  We will culminate this unit with a “Poetry Slam.”

Spelling –  Our next Spelling list includes words that have the oi or oy sound.
